About this site
This site is published by 6° Below of Elmira, Ontario, Canada. It describes a private commission programme and is provided for information. By using the site you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, please do not use it.
Nothing here is an offer
Nothing on this site is an offer, a quotation, or a binding commitment. Commissions, sector exclusivity, edition sizes and pricing are agreed case by case and are governed solely by a separate written agreement signed by both parties. Where this site and that agreement differ, the agreement governs.
Intellectual property
The commissioned artworks, the photographs and films of them, the text on this site, the 6° Below name and marks, and the site's design and code belong to 6° Below or its licensors and are protected by copyright and trade-mark law. The artist retains the moral rights recognised under Canadian copyright law.
Nothing on this site transfers any right in an artwork. What a commissioning institution receives is set out in its own agreement. You may view and print pages for your own reference; you may not otherwise copy, republish or adapt any part of the site without written permission.
Accuracy
We take care that what appears here — edition sizes, provenance, materials, the artist's history — is accurate when published. Photographs and renderings are indicative, and hand-finished objects vary. Figures and availability may change without notice. The numbered certificate and dossier issued with a piece are the authoritative record of that piece.
Acceptable use
Please do not use this site unlawfully, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, interfere with its operation, or extract its content by automated means. Please do not submit anything through the inquiry form that is unlawful, misleading, or that you do not have the right to share.
Disclaimers and liability
The site is provided as it stands. To the fullest extent the law allows, 6° Below excludes implied warranties and is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here affects a commissioning institution's rights under its own agreement.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction. We may revise these terms; the version published here is the current one and the date above shows when it last changed.

What we collect
Only what you send us. The inquiry form asks for your name, your role, your institution, your sector and your email address, optionally a telephone number, and lets you add a note about what the work would mark. We also record which language version of the site you used, so that we reply in that language.
Why, and your consent
We use it for one purpose: to answer your inquiry and, if it goes further, to discuss a commission. We do not sell it, rent it, or use it for unrelated marketing. Sending the form is your consent to that use, and you may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us.
No cookies, no tracking
This site sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
Who else handles an inquiry
Two providers process an inquiry on our behalf: Netlify, which receives the form submission and passes it to us, and Microsoft, which hosts our email. Both act on our instructions. Nobody else receives it.
Where it is held
Those providers operate outside Quebec and may store or process inquiries outside Canada, including in the United States. Information held in another country may be accessible to that country's authorities under its own laws. If you would rather not send information this way, write or telephone us instead.
How long we keep it
An inquiry that does not lead to a commission is kept for twenty-four months and then deleted. Where a commission proceeds, the correspondence becomes part of that engagement's record and is kept for as long as the agreement and our legal obligations require.
Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, ask for a copy in a portable form, or withdraw your consent. Write to us and we will respond within thirty days.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Privacy officer and contact
6° Below has designated John Langan as its privacy officer, the person responsible for the protection of personal information and for handling the requests described above.
Questions about this notice, or any of those requests, go to inquiries@6degreesbelow.com and will be passed to him.
